I am Pradeepto Roy, a photographer deeply passionate about capturing the essence of human emotions and connections, particularly with our grandparents and newborns.

My journey into photography was shaped by my father's unique perspective on the world, seeking to capture the intricate connections between people and the material objects that define their lives, and my mother's yearning to preserve memories of her children growing up. Transitioning from Mumbai to Toronto, where I initially knew no one, photography became my prism through which I sought to build connections and find meaning in my new surroundings.

Encounters with remarkable individuals reinforced my commitment to preserving their legacies. One such encounter was with a 100-year-old lady, a legend in her own right who championed the cause of girl’s education while another was the poignant moment with a father and newborn, which took on a profound new meaning when I later learned of the child's passing. The photographs take on new meaning with time.

Becoming a father amidst the pandemic afforded me the privilege of witnessing my child's formative years. This unique vantage point heightened my awareness of the transient nature of these crucial moments, prompting me to seek out the everyday nuances that define our shared experiences. In my practice, nurturing trust forms the bedrock of my approach. Whether it's capturing the delicate emotions of new parents navigating life's transformative journey or preserving the vulnerabilities of senior citizens, I believe in creating an environment that allows genuine emotions to unfold naturally.

As I continue to traverse the realms of photography, I am committed to preserving the beauty within the ordinary and perpetuating the memories nested within the objects, the spaces, and the people we hold dear.
